Tackling End-user Application Adoption

The term ‘user adoption’ is or should be a familiar one. In the software world it’s the art of getting application users and administrators to mentally embrace and accept a new way of doing things. But it can be a tricky thing to master. There are two primary methods existing on how this new system is introduced to the end-users — fire hose approach and a phased rollout. Regardless of the method you choose, the adoption rates should be measured. If you are not measuring user adoption then you cannot ever be sure your implementation was successful. Make sure that…

How Centrify is Innovating in the Four Biggest Trends in IT… #3 Cloud

In my last two blog posts I discussed how the four top of mind items for CIOs are Big Data, Mobile, Cloud and Security, and how Centrify is innovating in the areas of Big Data and Mobile. In this blog post I will discuss how we are innovating in the Cloud — specifically how we are leading the charge to deliver Identity-as-a-Service with the utmost flexibility to store identity where you want it and also allow remote users to seamlessly access on-premises apps via the Cloud. Cloud Clearly the Cloud market, like the Mobile market, is also growing by leaps…

App Gateway, Secure Remote Access and Single Sign-on to Internal Web Apps

Centrify Identity Service enables you to provide single sign-On (SSO) to both SaaS apps and on-premises apps that use a web interface. On-premises apps are unique in that they sit on the corporate network and are available only to users who are on the network physically, or who have VPN’ed into the network. From a user perspective, firing up a VPN session can be painful and time-consuming (or impossible if using a machine that doesn’t have the requisite VPN client). From an IT perspective, this can be painful in that the user’s device must be enabled with a VPN client. One of…

Secure Windows Administration and Eliminate Dual Active Directory Accounts for Administrators

I’ve seen many environments lately where the Windows administrators have two Active Directory accounts, one that they use for their normal end user activities, such as reading email, and the other they use for any administrative duty. This creates several very real problems: a) the admin now has two different accounts with a password that he must now maintain over time, probably not a huge problem but just a pain for the admin; b) you still have to trust the admin where he will use the second admin account and hope that he doesn’t use it for normal daily activity…

How Centrify is Innovating in the Four Biggest Trends in IT … #2 Mobile

In my last blog post I discussed how the four top of mind items for CIOs are Big Data, Mobile, Cloud and Security, and how Centrify is innovating in the area of Big Data. In this blog post I will discuss how we are innovating in Mobility — specifically how we are leading the charge to integrate identity and mobility management delivered entirely in the cloud.

MWC15: Enterprise Mobility Roundup

The team at Centrify was excited to be at Barcelona last week, which hosted the 10th annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) event. This year the weather was beautiful with a lot of sun, and that provided the perfect setting to pontificate about the future of the mobile industry. In this blog, I present a summary of the themes and my observations from the lens of enterprise mobility. “Business IoT” vs “Consumer IoT” This year the money in IoT is clearly in the industrial projects. IoT is being viewed as a great enabler to re-architect business processes and revenue models at several…

How Centrify is Innovating in the Four Biggest Trends in IT … #1 Big Data

Recently at a CEO summit hosted by one of our investors I heard the CEO of VMware say that the four top of mind items for CIOs are Big Data, Mobile, Cloud and Security. This echoes what Gartner has been saying since late 2012 that these are the top 4 “big trends” that will “change IT.” Even IBM announced this week as part of their restructuring that these four areas are their most significant “strategic imperatives.”

Centrify Demoing the Latest KNOX 2.4 features at MWC 2015

If you’ve read my last blog, you know that the Centrify mobile team is in full force at this year’s Mobile World Congress, and demoing some of the latest mobile features of Centrify Identify Service. Together with our partner Samsung, we are excited to announce and demo some of the new features in the KNOX 2.4 platform released this week. One key new feature is Bulk enrollment for Android on Samsung devices. This gives IT administrators the ability to enroll devices into Centrify Identity Service, or Knox EMM, without having physical access to the device. This was a feature in…

Centrify is Live @MWC 2015!

I’m here with the Centrify team at this year’s Mobile World Congress. We are proud to be demoing some very exciting new mobile features that help boost security in the workplace. We’re all aware of the regular cadence of news regarding hacked companies. Huge names we all know, down to some smaller players. You name it, nobody is safe. All of these hacks are being traced back to the fact that companies have holes in their security practices, which usually include some form of weak password and authentication controls. Re-used, shared, or poorly secured passwords are compromised by the attackers,…
