New Updates to Centrify’s Application Single Sign-on Support

This week we released an update to our DirectControl for Applications web single sign-on. As a reminder, DirectControl for Applications is an add-on to any version of the Centrify Suite providing an easy to deploy and manage single sign-on and access control solution for web application servers running on UNIX, Linux or Windows servers. With support for hundreds of platforms and the most common application servers (such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache HTTP and IBM HTTP) DirectControl for Applications is a great solution for quickly adding Active Directory authentication and access control to your business-critical custom and packaged web applications. And don’t forget we also support DB2 and SAP single sign-on too.

Available for download from the Centrify Download center, (requires an evaluation or customer account to login) DirectControl for Applications adds the following new applications server versions to the list of previously supported versions:

  • Apache HTTP 2.4
  • Tomcat 7
  • JBoss 7
  • WebSphere 8

Additionally delivers the following enhancements and/or upgrades:

  • Apache HTTP server support has been enhanced with additional directives to optionally authenticate a user by PAM and/or Active Directory for HTTP Basic. Previously only Active Directory users were supported with no option to fail over to PAM.
  • For application servers that have been enhanced to utilize Java 7, we have tested and officially support this configuration.
  • In addition to various bug fixes and enhancements, we have completed full regression testing for this release against the latest versions of Centrify Suite 2012.

As I have written about in previous posts, you can achieve a significant ROI by employing single sign-on through the DirectControl for Applications add-on to the Centrify Suite.
