What is that? It is a newly discovered, but barely understood phenomenon called a Sprite.
Sprites are large-scale electrical discharges that occur high above thunder clouds, giving rise to an amazing range of shapes flickering in the night sky. So why am I writing about this in the Centrify blog? With our announcement today about AVG choosing Centrify to power its new AVG CloudCare™ IDaaS and EMM offerings, we are helping thousands of MSP (Managed Service Provider) organizations become Sprites – with the vantage point and capability to rise high above all their customers’ clouds and manage them using CloudCare IDaaS.
This new AVG cloud-based identity and mobility management solution is built on Centrify User Suite that provides the MSP community with the ability to securely enable and manage their customers’ initiatives of adopting cloud apps and BYO mobile devices/apps. AVG chose to partner with Centrify for its holistic approach to IDaaS that includes an integrated EMM as a powerful and differentiated offering for today’s mobile and cloud first business landscape. Unlike competitive solutions that are patched together to combine IDaaS and EMM functionality, Centrify’s solutions are designed cohesively as a single platform from the ground-up, and are also easily customized and rebranded, providing OEMs such as AVG with fast, simple integration with existing offerings.
Centrify and AVG teams envisioned the potential for a deep partnership at this year’s Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona where mobility and cloud enablement by solution providers of all sizes was a hot topic. Back in October 2012, AVG had introduced AVG CloudCare, a cloud-based administration platform offering resellers a new way to implement and manage services such as antivirus, content filtering, online backup and email security services for their small business customers. Then in June 2013, it added AVG Managed Workplace, an open eco-system Remote Management & Monitoring (RMM) tool for workstations and servers. AVG’s vision is to make the lives of MSPs and their small business customers as easy as possible, regardless of whether its staff are in the office, at home, or on the road. AVG was now looking for an easy on-ramp solution that could help its customers tie together, on-board and access these cloud services through an easy “daily use” portal; and could help its partners grow their businesses by monetizing the new wave of customers’ cloud business apps and mobile devices with a new subscription service to manage them all. Most importantly, AVG is always looking for solutions that help its partners increase security levels for their customers, so Centrify fit the bill. But Centrify offered the additional appeal to be able to increase AVG’s partners business productivity with a cloud identity and mobility management offering.
At AVG’s Cloud Summit in Phoenix this week, MSPs will have an exclusive first-look at how AVG’s full cloud-security and Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM) services portfolio can help them deliver secure, Single Sign-on (SSO) for easy, one-click security and control over their customers’ cloud applications and mobile data. Partners will be able to experience the breakthrough integration of Multi Factor Authentication, Single Sign-on, Mobile Device Management and Mobile Application Management – all managed through cloud-based portals and Active Directory to ease complexity and simplify management.
Mike Foreman, general manager for SMB at AVG had this to say: “As businesses of all sizes embrace cloud and mobility initiatives, it’s critical we enable MSPs to address these organizations’ employee lifecycle challenges related to user, device and application on-boarding and off-boarding. By combining Centrify’s IDaaS and EMM functionality with our existing RMM offering, Centrify enables AVG to provide a turnkey solution that simply and securely maximizes mobile and SaaS productivity with seamless access to our entire suite of AVG services – along with a rich catalog of more than 2,500 SaaS apps – for customers that have heterogeneous IT environments.”
We at Centrify are excited to be working with Mike and his visionary product team leader, David Haadsma. Centrify looks forward to this opportunity to better serve the MSP and mid-market customer segment through this broad integrated set of IT management and security solutions with AVG. The companies have plans to continue integrating AVG CloudCare with Centrify Cloud Services and provide partners with even more value in the coming months. Stay tuned!
