Every six months or so I like to give an update to our customers and partners on the “health” of Centrify and how we are doing business-wise. Even though our fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30, most people usually ask me how we grew from a calendar year perspective and what were the major milestones accomplished. So here is a quick recap of what we accomplished in calendar year 2013.
One big milestone, which caused some delays in me writing this blog post (or any blog post for that matter), and technically did not occur in calendar year 2013, was that we moved our corporate offices from Sunnyvale to Santa Clara. We basically outgrew our old HQ and needed more space, and now that we have been here a few weeks, we are nicely settled in to our bigger (and brighter!) space. Given all the prep work we did before the move, it felt like a 2013 event, so I decided to mention it first. Below is a picture of our new building as well as another picture of me plugging in my laptop for the first time in the new digs (yes I need to decorate my office a bit more!). Thanks to Warren Smith, our resident photographer, for use of his photos, and even bigger thanks to the team for making the move a great success. The new office location and directions can be found at our Contact Us page.
People also ask you how you did financially, and I am pleased to say we had a record calendar year sales-wise, growing the business over 40% and broke the magical (for security startups that is) $50m in sales barrier. Moving forward we are looking forward to continuing being a high growth venture.
Besides hitting your numbers and being considered a growth company, another key thing we really care about is our customers. Namely getting them and keeping them happy. We are pleased to say we continued to bring on a large number of marque customers, and now have over 5000 customers — by far the largest share in our market segment within the identity management market. And we are keeping them happy with over a 97% retention rate.
Another key item that makes Centrify a great company is our employees. We grew employee headcount by 30% year over year, and now have total headcount of over 400 personnel. And as mentioned above, they are enjoying our new HQ.
Partners are also key to our success as well. This past year we established key industry partner integrations and platform support, including for Zoom, Alfresco, Marketo, Huddle, Dropbox for Business, Red Hat Storage, and NetSuite. We also partnered with Samsung Electronics Co, Ltd., to provide key enabling technology for Samsung’s KNOX mobile solution for the Android platform which delivers unparalleled Active Directory integration, mobile application Zero Sign-on, and KNOX container and device management capabilities, including for the latest Samsung KNOX-enabled GALAXY S4, Note 3 and Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) devices.
We also partnered with even more channel partners and grew our channel to over 200 partners strong, and just recently announced a major upgrade to our channel program. Centrify also launched the Centrify Alliance Partner Program (CAPP), for developers, cloud and mobile ISVs to jointly develop integrated solutions leveraging Centrify’s leading Unified Identity Services for secure access to cloud and mobile apps.
On the product side, wow what a busy year. We introduced new solutions to address the changing economies of enterprise IT and shift to “the Internet of things.” Solution introductions in 2013 included Centrify User Suite, SaaS Edition, the industry’s first Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) solution to provide robust Active Directory and/or cloud-based Single Sign-on (SSO), access management, application management and mobile management across any cloud, mobile or on-premise application. Centrify also launched Centrify User Suite, Mac Edition, the industry’s first solution to provide robust Active Directory-based authentication, policy management, SSO and user self-service for connected and remote Mac OS X systems. The company also introduced Centrify for Office 365, the industry’s most comprehensive solution for Active Directory-based SSO, user provisioning and mobile management for Office 365.
Last but not least, we also launched Centrify Suite 2013, delivering new advanced privileged user management and auditing for Windows systems, as well as new “sudo” migration tools for Linux so organizations can quickly and effectively meet compliance requirements, mitigate risks from internal threats, and reduce operational costs across the broadest set of cross-platform systems deployed on-premise and in the cloud.
Finally, we earned numerous awards and industry distinctions, including five 2013 Windows IT Pro Community Choice Awards, a finalist award for Best Identity Management Solution by SC Magazine, and a 2013 Cloud Computing Excellence Award by Cloud Computing Magazine. Centrify was also named one of Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Fastest Growing Private Companies for 2013.
So overall, what a great year! I want to thank our employees for being such a great team and really building something special here at Centrify. And I also want to thank our customers and partners in believing and trusting in Centrify as a go to vendor for both identity management software and cloud-based Identity as a Service (IDaaS). Stay tuned for more great things coming out of Centrify in the coming months!!!!
